Tybee Island
Tybee Island is coastal community located 18 miles from
downtown Savannah.
The Sand Arts Festival was held at the North Beach for many
years but a couple of years ago, moved to the Pier part of the beach.
The sandy beach and close proximity to SCAD Savannah make
this an ideal location for the annual festival.
At the end of the event, the creations are all withered back
to sand to provide a safe and protected environment for the sea turtles who
nest on Tybee Island.
